Australian athlete Warren Potent has taken silver at the 2016 ISSF World Cup in Rio de Janeiro, narrowly missing out to Henri Junghaenel of Germany in the final of the 50m Rifle Prone Men.
This is the second podium finish in less than two months for the 54-year old Sydneysider, who received a silver medal at the ISSF World Cup event in Bangkok in March. Potent was also named to the Australian Olympic team earlier this month.
"I feel good," said Potent after the medal ceremony. "I shot consistently for the whole day and I had to fight in the second half of the final. I’m happy with my performance and proud to be taking home a medal. Looking forward to the Olympics!"
A bronze medallist at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, Potent will make his fifth straight Olympic appearance for Australia when he returns to Rio in August.
