Media Releases | Friday, Apr 29, 2016

Ten Shooting athletes have been named today to the NextGen AUSComGames Squad.

Jack Rossiter, Emma Adams, Victoria Rossiter, Bailey Groves, Sergei Evglevski, Sascha Kroopin, Mitchell Iles, Jack Wallace, Aislin Jones and Mitchell Bailey will receive support from the Australian Commonwealth Games Association (ACGA) as part of the 2016 NextGen AUSComGames Squad.

“Our relationship with the ACGA is wonderful and we are incredibly grateful for its ongoing support,” said Shooting Australia CEO Damien Marangon. “This funding enables these young guns to compete at an international level with some of the world’s best athletes between now and the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games."

Marangon continued, “The Gold Coast Games offer our athletes a home-ground advantage and an opportunity to compete in front of a home crowd - but overseas competitions between now and then will give them the experiences they need in order to reach their full potential."

“The ACGA is proud to provide financial support through the NextGEN AUSComGames program to our young shooters.  We see it as an important investment in Australia’s future success in Commonwealth Games competition” said ACGA CEO Craig Phillips.

The 2018 Commonwealth Games will be held at Gold Coast City, Queensland, with Shooting Sports being held in Brisbane. The Games will feature four shooting disciplines: Pistol, Smallbore Rifle, Fullbore Rifle, and Clay Target.
