Australia has finished strongly in the final day of competition in Gabala, Azerbaijan for the second ISSF Junior World Cup event of the year. Australia's Jack Wallace, 19, defeated Italy’s Simone D’Ambrosio in the Trap Men Junior gold-medal match and teammate Samuel Bylsma, 20, made it to the semi-final round with a 6th-place finish.
Australia secured its second team silver from Gabala, this time in the Trap Men with a team consisting of Jack Wallace and Bylsma brothers Samuel and Adam. This lineup won Gold in the Trap Men team event in Suhl, Germany, earlier this year.
Trap Men gold-medal-winner Jack achieved Bronze in the same event in Suhl, and is a member of the 2016 NextGen AUSComGames Squad.
Australia finished 6th overall in the final medal rankings with 1 Gold, 4 Silver, and 3 Bronze medals
"The future looks bright for our sport," said Shooting Australia CEO Damien Marangon. “The work with these developing athletes is paying off with outstanding results."
The ISSF Junior World Cup in Gabala took place from September 16th to September 23rd. The ISSF season will continue next month with the ISSF World Cup Final in Rifle/Pistol events taking place in Bologna, Italy 4-10 October, and the ISSF World Cup Final in Shotgun events taking place in Rome 10-16 October.
